About the Writer

Kalynn is a writer for children's media across books and animation, with writing credits on "Mighty Monsterwheelies" on Netflix, and on another, still unannounced, preschool show. She has years of script experience at DreamWorks, where she was also the co-lead of MyAbilities, an employee resource group that focuses on representation and inclusion for the disabled community. In her free time, she runs a writer's group, and can often be found underwater.
A child of California’s coastline, she took her love for the sea a splash too far, and now considers herself a part-time mermaid. When she’s not exploring kelp forests, she enjoys watching anime or KDrama, and bursting out into showtunes; but no love is greater than her love for dreaming. Ever since she was young, she would imagine beautiful worlds filled with the wings of fairies, pesky spirit-infested cottages, and the magic that makes flowers bloom. Horses were also a significant part of her childhood, winning dressage musical freestyles with her unicorn “Merlin” all over the state. She collects hand-crafted notebooks that she will never write in because they’re too pretty for her poor penmanship, and Totoro plushies because she treasures soft things.

It All Started With A True Story...
When she was 12, Kalynn wrote the true story of "Frankie Blue Eyes," a severely abused miniature pony that unfortunately couldn't be saved. Though admittedly riddled with grammatical errors, her mother believed it was special, so she submitted it to a small publication called "The Chronicle of the Horse." Not long after, she picked up Kalynn at school and surprised her with copies of the magazine, containing her short nonfiction piece. She hasn't stopped writing ever since, whether it be lyrics, plays, poems, scripts, novels...
Background
Kalynn went to school at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she majored in Theatre Arts with a minor in Music and a Creative Writing certificate. She was mentored by award-winning author, Kevin Wilson.

After graduating, she started her career as a voice-over actor, and while working at Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny, Ireland, she discovered her passion for animated storytelling. She hopes to create books and shows, featuring heartfelt stories led by a diverse cast of characters, that inspire the imaginations of the next generation.
